| My husband and I share our log cabin with five minis. Only two of my dogs are breeding at this time. All of our fur kids sleep indoors, have a fenced 1/4 acre to play in, a secure run and small kennel. They have access to our home all of the time. I am a retired veterinary surgical assistant. This training gives me the skill to give my dogs the best care possible. I have had the good fortune to be able to work with aussies for over 40 years. I have shown in conformation only recently. Prior to conformation I worked obedience. In the beginning I thought that conformation was nothing more than a beauty contest. I was very wrong. Correct physical structure is what makes a healthy animal. Remove that, you end up with a pet who can't perform what the breed was intended to do. A dogs bad structure can impact its health. My breeding adults have to pass several health screenings. A hip x-ray is done and interpreted by OFA, eyes are checked annually by a canine opthalmologist, a genetic test MDR-1 is done to determine any drug sensitivity and a genetic PRA-PRCD screening for retinal problems. It is very important that puppy buyers investigate the breeder they have selected to be sure health clearances are done. Most of the tests are genetic and done only once in the dogs life time. The main registries do not require mandatory testing by its breeders. It is up to the public to be informed and insist on health testing. I welcome anyone who wants to visit my home and see my great dogs. Please just give me a call, I would be delighted to meet you. If I can be of help to you or answer any questions feel free to ask. If I am unable to provide you with the puppy of your dreams, I will help you to locate a breeder who can. Please consider adopting a pet from a local shelter. call or e-mail Susie & Marvin Janes 575-829-3028 or e-mail mandermom1@yahoo.com |
